Biomass use for the heating purposes in the hospital for patients with Altzheimer Disease
Biomass use for the heating purposes in the hospital for patients with Altzheimer Disease
Proposed initially by local government heating system based on oil which would involve a very high, growing financial burden to the community of excluded people (HIV/AIDS) living in Wandzin campus. New heating system for hospital for people with Alzheimer.
Invitation of GEF/SGP changed loc.government attitude after a lenghty discussion and negotiation.
Existing capacity (space in boiler house) enabled new solution (100m modern pipe instead of construction of an additional boiler house for hospital itself) . Very strong social effects and direct ecological ones - use of renewable energy sources, economic effects - paid by work energy resource (zero cash cost).

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
All construction and installation work done by members of Wandzin community -people of age 18-65 of different skills and profession;their normal life was stopped ny drugs and HIV/AIDS
Policy Impact
Example of succesful fight with a very suspicious solution presented initially by loc.gov.and rigorious GEF/SGP position , so renewable energy will be used instead of planned by local donor/loc.gov. oil. .It reflects a wide example of interest of various lobbies in loc.gov. councils (here oil lobby?oil boilers lobby?).Wandzin community is located in the forest, a big complex;Wandzin has a permanent contract for clearing forest signed with the local forest inspectorate and for labour is paid by wood and wood waste.Oil solution is absolutely not rational in this case.
