Capacity Building of Caritas Pakistan to promote fuel efficient stove cooking technology among the targeted beneficiaries.
Caritas Pakistan is working for the total human development at the gross root level. Mission of Caritas Pakistan is to motivate/sensitize people to utilize their resources (time, talent and treasurer) to work in harmony towards total human development.

Priorities of Caritas Pakistan are Agriculture, Non-formal Education, Housing, Economic Development and Health. Provision of extension services (new technologies) and management of available resources are the important issues of Caritas development plan.

Several factors have been contributed to sustained low Environmental Protection including smoke of the stoves by burning the wood for fuel purposes. However, this factor has been contributing the Pollution in the environment. This is further aggravated by lack of skills at home levels to determine the cause of pollution and application of appropriate measures. Usually the wood is used as first priority to combat the source of fuel for various food cooking. Firstly the unsystematic use of wood for cooking purposes has resulted in unprecedented high levels of gas emissions in the environment. Some of these detected are CO2, Methane, and other Chlorinated Hydrocarbons. These have proven diverse effects on human and animal health. Secondly, due to the elimination of the natural resource i.e. wood consumption for fuel purposes are creating deforestation by which natural habitat affected. This is particularly important in case of resources poor communities situation where improving forestation/environment free from smoke has become a challenge in promotion of smokeless stoves for better environment.

Globally environment is being effected by different pollutions, among the types of pollution there is a pollution called smoke of stoves at household level, which is not only effecting the women but to the whole family. As in our country forest ratio is very low as compared to other countries and at the same time the wood is going to be reduced day by day due to its consumption for cooking purposes. When we use the wood for cooking purposes many gases are emitting, which effects the environment. The basic idea to develop this project is to protect the women from injurious smoke, energy conservation, time saving and wood reduction for cooking purposes.

Through this project Caritas Pakistan will develop capacity of its staff to address the above cause by adopting the technology smokeless stove in the target areas. The project would be implemented in six diocesan units of Caritas Pakistan. Each diocese will target the 5 villages and implement the project through 2 field organizers in each diocese.
