Community-Based Coastal Resource Management in Ulugan Bay
This project aims to continue the initiatives of the UNESCO/UNDP Project for Ulugan Bay, specifically to implement activities directed towards the development of community enterprise (e.g. eco-tourism), tenurial security and community direct actions (i.e., community-based coastal resource management, fish sanctuary establishment, mangrove conservation, etc.). Total grant amount is $34,078 GEF + $2,838 UNF.

Notable Community Participation
Community participation in the management of the coastal resources in Ulugan Bay:
1. Strengthening of existing people's organization through conduct of trainings/seminars/workshops on CRM methods and strategies, resource management planning, environmental law enforcement (advanced paralegal training) and the development of community enterprises.
2. Community consultation on resource management concerns and environmental problems;
3. Assistance to community paralegals and community monitoring, patrolling, environmental law enforcement activities through strategy meetings, brainstorming sessions, and provision of logistical/operational support.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Every barangay has been identify community-wide enterprise either related to fishing, tourism or agriculture. Sustainbaility mechanisms amohng others are the establishment of viable community enterprises.
