Sustainable Renewable Energy Demonstration Village
The project islocated in Risitu valley of Chimanimani district .This project involves the introduction of energy innovations that reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases through the promotion and dissemination of improved stoves and imporved access to alternative electrical energy resources by having a central solar battery charging station. There is a component of improving energy efficiency and use for the jam canning project which is a window for raising funds for the group to improve their livelihoods. This will entail carrying out energy audits then come up with strategies of energy savings.
project objectives
-to mitigate GHG emissions by the introduction of at leas 100 efficient biomass buning stoves that emit less smoke , this will also lessen the burden of fetching fuelwood on women and children
-to harness sawmill waste from sawmills in Chimaninmani through the develoment and dissemination of alternative sawdust briquette stoves
-to improve access to a clean and environmentally friendly source of electricity to provide for lighting and other electrical power needs
-to promote the gowinng of more fruit trees
-to empower the community and build its capacity to identify , implement and monitor their activities.
intended results
-at least 100 improved mud stoves which save on fuel and emit less smoke , one prototype sw dust burning stove and better kitchen management techniques are intduced and in use
-an environmental and sustainable household electrical enrgy supply system is established and functioning
-operations of the jam canning plant are improved in energy efficiency and membersare aware of energy managemet techniques
-at least two different fruit products of high quality standards are processed and marketed by the jam canning cooperative
-a community based project monitoring and evaluation system is established and functioning.
project activities
-planning meeting in the pilot areas
-training of stove promoters on mud stove construction, qualty control and better kitchen and firewood management techniquies
-reseach and development of Sawdust briquette stoves
-training on servicing and installation of solar system
-system design and installation
-household installation
-carry out an enerrgy audit of the jam plant and energy management awareness training
-training on health ,hygiene quality control and marketing for jam canning cooperative
-progress monitoring and impact asseeement.
