5 workshops held in Colombo and the regions for sharing of experiences and future planning. Group visits arranged to each others' projects on a thematic and interest basis. Visits were also meant as an informal monitoring exercise for each other.

At the end of the programme a final workshop was held where the SGP partner organizations who participated in the workshops decided to form six sub-committees/groups on a thematic basis. The sub groups are Biodiversity, Energy, Indigenous Knowledge, Organic Agriculture, Marine & Coastal Conservation and Communications. Each sub committee was to carry forward the work started in this project.

The Environment Day celebrations were held at the Sasakawa Hall in Colombo with over 50 partner organizations participating in the event. The chief guests were Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the UNDP DRR (P) and the UNV PO. As it was the UN Year of the Volunteer, certificates were awarded to the National Steering Committee members as a token of appreciation for their volunteer participation in the committee.
