The project aims to promote sustainable development integrating the biodiversity conservation interests into development programs, where the participation of local communities would be increased to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.

As per the progress report of YMT, pasture development and community forest activities are underway for the forestry intensification process. Environmental Education Workshop has been conducted during the GYT meeting where all the villagers would be present and the Dzongkhag RNR personnel briefed the poeple about the project activities and objectives and how it is beneficial to the local people of Yungtoed valley.

Most of the activities has been carried out except for establishing a weaving program, mushroom cultivation and study tour.

Officially the project should have ended by end of 2003 but, the YMT have not submitted their terminal report inspite of our repeated reminders.

SGP is planning to visit YMT during the month of May 2005.
