Children for Forest and Environment
The world is gradually warming up everyday. The climate is at variance. There are
the El Nino and other natural variance such as unusual storms and rains that causes natural disasters. All most all of these natural disasters ,of the past and present, are the consequences of human daily activities both in agricultural and industrial sector. These activities cause the Green House Effect warming up the earth.
In general, facts about global warming are rather difficult for average communities to appreciate. The information and figures concerning this are too complicate and seems to belong only to some special type of technical persons. Especially in schools, without concerning activities, the students are apt to grasp the ideal picture from books which are not adequate for putting what are learnt into practice. Apart from failure to solve the real problems, such a practice is consequently bringing out unfavourable habits from children.
Contemporary consuming behaviour and way of life are causing degradation to environment and depletion of natural resources so fast that they pass by without being appreciated. There emerge problems of waste disposal and energy consumption. These problems on human activities cause other problems to the world climate. Still average communities fail to understand this phenomenon.
With the right way of presenting information and training, this problem can be precisely addressed and solved. The unfavourable habits of children will gradually be fading away. The instilling process during the school years imposes tremendous effects on children. Since, schools are institutes children are most familiar with, they should be equipped with the right and accurate information concerning this urgent issue.
Project goals or objectives (including GEF problem-area addressed by projects):
1. To educate and raise awareness among youths the Climate Change phenomenon
2. To encourage the youths to adapt their unfavourable habits for environmentally- friendly
3. To prompt the formation of conservation groups/clubs in schools as well as networking for future campaigns
4. To prompt the production of campaigning /disseminating media by students and teachers
Activities to be carried out under project:
1. To organize 2 youth trainings on the matter of global warming for 5 schools of the target area
2. To launch campaigns in schools and respective communities
3. To organize activities for forging networking for continuity of conservation activities
Project participants and/or beneficiaries:
1. Students ,teachers and their families in the target schools
2. Communities in the respective area
3.Other CBOs/groups that implement the relevant activities such as the Grandparents Group, Khao Yai Concern Group. The participating is in the form of information/experience sharing.
Anticipated results of project:
1. The unfavourable habits of children are adapted to be more environmentally-friendly.
2. Formation of conservation groups/clubs in schools and subsequent networking
