Promotion of solar powered irrigation farming for demonstration.
To promote wide use of solar energy in water pumping and irrigation farming through support to a demonstration community based irrigation scheme.
The demonstration project will send clear lessons to the people, government, NGOs and donor community that Lake Victoria waters can feed people who live on its shores. If renewable energy technologies can be used to support small scale irrigation farms.
The project will also increase production of food crops in order to reduce and eventually eradicate food poverty to lake adjacent communities.
