Design and Implementation of renewable energy interventions in selected villages of papumpare district, Arunachal Pradesh.
The project proposed to connect the organizational strength of Self-Help groups to organic farming practices to promote sustainable agriculture and bring out confluence of women empowerment, improved agricultural techniques and organic farming to increase agricultural production. The project focused on efficient use of alternate sources of renewable energy by introducing low-cost, simple technologies i.e. solar lanterns, solar home lighting system and improved chulhas (cook stoves), improved kerosene lanterns and plantations. The project laid emphasis in the remote, hilly and far-flung areas in the un-reached parts of North- eastern India

Notable Community Participation
A multi-stakeholder approach of using unemployed youth, women?s groups, children and male volunteers were all used for dissemination, awareness and sensitivity on the use of energy sources. Local committees were set-up to sustain the process and use of technologies in villages. Meetings were regularly held and 10-15% contributions were encouraged from the communities. Many people approached the NGO to adopt and implement the same systems in their villages. This evoked lot of interest in the areas.
Capacity - Building Component
Conscious effort were made to build the capacities of the village community to plan and implement renewable energy programmes for their benefit, which will go in long way in ensuring the sustainability of project.
