It proposed to enhance the local community?s perception of the importance of the medicinal plant species and the benefits that occur through them, to identify the harvest techniques for the medicinal plants, to assess the feasibility of ex-situ conservation through cultivation of these species on farmers? farms and to provide risk coverage to experimenting farmers during the initial phase.

Farmer?s capability for cultivation of medicinal plant was enhanced through guidance in practical cultivation techniques.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Some of the farmers got better returns and recognition for their initiatives from the forest department. The project created better demand for the local ?Ayurvedic? medicines locally and also in neighboring villages. Some farmers started manufacturing and marketing of ?Ayurvedic? formulations.
