Mitigating GHG through Renewable Energy
Mitigating GHG through Renewable Energy
The civilization of the twentieth century is one of industry-oriented in which human
beings are over-consuming energy. Mostly, the energy is being used in manufacturing processes in industry and communication to respond to the consumerist society. Such processes are enormously contributing to the release of a gas ,known as Carbondioxide, a major GHG, into the world?s atmosphere. This GHG has caused the rise in the world?s temperature and other climatic variance. The phenomenon is widely known as the Green House Effects the consequences of which are all threatening the livelihood of human beings.

One of the many solutions for mitigating the phenomenon is to launch campaigns for reducing the rate of GHG release. These campaigns could be in the form of appropriate use of energy such as solar and wind energy, promotion of indigenous material consumption and reforestation as a source for carbon sinks.

With the cooperation from all human beings in energy conservation, application of renewable energy, practice of meticulous consumption and reforestation, the greenhouse effect can be mitigated and quality of life secured. Nonetheless, there are a number of people who have never been submitted with the information and accordingly educated. This situation makes it difficult to receive full cooperation from average persons. Therefore, the immediate solution to this is education that will help make the problems real to them and subsequently activate their participation in solving the problems.

Project goals or objectives (including GEF problem-area addressed by projects):

1.To educate and instil youths in 30 schools in Chaiyaphum Province on the problems and solution of the greenhouse effect
2. To launch campaigns on mitigating the greenhouse effect in wider publics
3. To establish networking of campaigning youth groups for sustainable activities

Activities to be carried out under project:

1.To train 7 selected students to be resource persons for the project
2. To set up mobile forum to educate youths in 30 schools on the greenhouse effect
3. To produce the documents and magazines periodically to closely communicate among target groups
4. To set up mobile exhibition and to award the youths who has been performing outstandingly in the project

Project participants and/or beneficiaries:

1. The youth group of Tha Mafai Wan village
2. The Motherland Concern Youth Group
3. Students and teachers from 30 secondary schools in Chaiyaphum Province

Anticipated results of project:

1.Approximately 15,000 students in Chaiyaphum Province thoroughly gain
knowledge about the greenhouse effects and realize that they have responsibility
to use energy carefully.
2. There emerge a youth group who will persistently cooperate in the GHG mitigating activities.
3. There are movements throughout the province in an effort to set up conservation networking of youth groups and prepared to cooperate with other youth groups world-widely in the near future.
