The objective is to develop a strategy that will demonstrate constructive ways of involving Belizean communities in the consrvation and sustainable use of biodiversity in and around the most significant protected areas of the Belize Barrier Reef World Heritage Site.The purpose of this project is to involve stakeholders in the process of preparing a Country Strategy for COMPACT that will indicate areas for intervention through the project.
The expect results for this project are:
a) The mission, goal and purpose for the Belize COMPACT Programme Strategy will have been developed through consensus.
b) Areas for project-supported interventions will have been prioritized.
c) Stakeholders will have been engaged in project identification activities.
d) A plan of action to bring about policy level support and to foster the required political decisions for the allocation of resources will have been developed.
e) A Program Strategy for the implementation of COMPACT will have been compiled.

g) A process to ratify the COMPACT Country Program Strategy that involves key stakeholders will have been completed.
