A Local Community Initiative to Protect and Enhance the Environment and the Natural Resources of the Main Range Watershed and Water Catchment Highland Areas in Perak
Development of a full project proposal through: (i) in-depth consultations with local communities of Orang Asli villages who will be involved in the project as pilot sites; and (ii) study visits by Perak Consumers' Asosciation and other NGOs to the five selected villages along the Main Range in Perak in order to formulate appropropriate sustainable development and sustainable livelihood strategies (e.g. organic farming and sustainable community-supported agriculture, small income generating activities, 'green consumer' lifestyles, etc.) and action plans that best meet the needs of the local communities.

Notable Community Participation
A total of five villages (4 inhabited villages and 1 uninhabited village) located on the Main Range, near Gopeng, Perak have been selected by Perak Consumers' Assocation as the pilot sites for the proposed project. The main inhabitants of the above-mentioned villages are the indigenous Semelai who will be involved in all stages of the planning, design and implementation of the project.
Gender Focus
All meetings, consultations and activities will include men, women and youth. Activities will be tailored to meet their specific needs and requirements accordingly, so as to yield maximum benefits to the particpating local communities in line with the objectives of the project.
