Orang Asli Temuan Tribe Working Together to Conserve and Sustainably Use their Environment via Sustainable Livelihoods
Development of a full project proposal through: (i) consultations with the indigenous Temuan local community of Kampong Bertang, Raub, Pahang on needs assessment for capacity building; (ii) collecting baseline data and information; and (iii) documenting indigenous knowledge and experience. The project being developed will prevent the depletion of endangered species such as rattan and agarwood trees, promote the sustainable management of non-timber forest products, introduce appropriate eco-friendly sanitation systems, mitigate climate change by introducing a renewable energy system linked to sustainable livelihoods for the local community to replace their currently unsustainable use of kerosene and forest wood for energy.

Capacity - Building Component
Capacity building training and awareness raising sessions will be carried out for the indigenous Temuan villagers on the implementation of project components, natural resource management, socio-economic development, conservation and sustainable use of their environment, etc.
