Completion reports received on March 18, 2003, summarizing the following immediate outputs and results:

1. Emergence of the following groups:
- community leaders who are experienced in traditional irrigation system
- Youth-for-How River
2. Acquisition of requisite data & information and relief map for reference in future development
3. Acquisition of future management plan with proposed activities, period of time, budget and
responsible agencies

Dissemination / Public Relation of project:

July 2002: Coordinator of the Forest Conservation of Tak Province and manager of Village Fund
Project based in Mae Jo University paid a visit to the project site

July 2002: Participants from the international course ? Sustainable Agricultural Resources
Management? which included 22 members from Vietnam, Lao PDR, Bangladesh , Bhutan,
Kampuchea and China paid a visit to the project site.


Participatory Evaluation:

The project had periodically conducted participatory evaluation but the final one was on February 25, 2003.

Participants: About 150 participants from participating communities , concerned government officers
and students from Mae Jo University

Methods: One-day meeting in which history, objectives, undertaken activities and results were put
forwarded for discussion.

Impact:

The direct impact was evinced through the incorporation of proposed future plan into the five-year Tambol Development Plan of Tambol San Pa Yang. Furthermore, some proposed action plans of the project were incorporated into the Upper Ping River Basin Management Plan of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The enthusiasm of communities prompted the interested of related government agencies such as the Royal Forestry Department, the provincial irrigation office and Chiangmai Provincial Council Member. These organizations gave valuable advice as to how to apply for budget from relevant government agencies for further development activities.

Future Plan:

Having implemented the project, community leaders have demonstrated eagerness by attempting to include upstream and downstream communities in the next development process ? networking of community throughout the How River.
