Completion reports received on 9 May 2003, summarizing the following immediate outputs and results:

1. Emergence of demonstration plots , with total area of 80 rais (13 ha) for non-chemical, natural
farming , under careful supervision /documentation of project members.
2. The following products were available for use amongst members:
- 756 gallons of organic solution
- 27.5 tons of compost (not individual but for the entire group)
- laundry solution, dish-washing solution for 70 % of members
- soap and shampoo for 10 % of members
- additional 1,260 fruit trees and numerous other species for use in the area
3. Every group and sub-group meeting were attended by 95 % of members.
4. Two-thirds of project areas established monthly meeting to review past activities and plan future
activities.

Dissemination / Public Relation of project

There have been no direct public relation with mass media or public except naturally letting the activities spreading the message to non-project member in the immediate neighbourhood. However, the project leaders have introduced the practices and approaches to related government agencies in the area ,such as, Land Development Station, Provincial Forestry Office and Provincial Land Reform.


Participatory Evaluation: conducted on 1-4 February 2003

Participants: Approximately 93 , two resources persons from outside communities, project leaders
from THA-01-10, and THA-01-14, the director of the Knowledge Management Institute
and the director of the Local Development Institute-Bangkok.

Methods: Open forum for seminar where project members and others participated. The process
had seen the overall assessment of capacity of project members , presentation of
accomplishment and/or arising problems of individual member, and suggestion from
participants.

Impact: As the project approach is one of the reversal to the mainstream practice, with only 12-
25 members in each target village, the impact is not yet substantiated. Therefore, the
project represented a collective effort to ensure increased awareness and acceptable
practices. Gradually, non-project members have been showing interest in becoming a
member where screening process has to follow the established mechanism. Regarding
local government offices, the project has been cooperating with Nakhornphanom
Provincial Land Development Office and Horticultural Experiment Station to produce
seeds ? good relationship.

Future Plan:

As the project activities are of life-long process of learning capacity-building in
conjunction with awareness raising, the activities will go on.
