Baseline Assessment of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park: Policy, Conservation, Objectives and Protected Areas Management Arrangements
Baseline Assessment project with the objective of reviewing and completing the information about the site: involving the conservation objectives of the Protected Area (i.e., which species, habitats, is/are responsible for PA management; what were the key events in the establishment of the PA and when did they happer, the key organizations and individuals that played key roles; who were the PA's previous landowners/managers; the legal status of the PA (initial and current), how did the change happened; collation of relevant international, national, and local laws, rules and regulations, ordinances, and other issuances relating to the estbalishment and management of the Protected Area (PA); which organizations are responsible for protected area management; and analysis of how these policies and management bodies affect the management of the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP).

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Barangay Marufinas, one of the barangays where the BA was conduct, is composed of 95% Tagbanuas, an indigenous peoples group. They were also participants in the surveys, workshop, focused group discussions, interviews of key informants for that barangay/village. In the other places, Barangay Tagabenit and Cabayugan, another tribal group of Bataks, though small, were also part of the participating community in that area.
Gender Focus
During the conduct of the BA, the participants include both men and women from the community.
