Bio-Diversity Samitis; Efforts to Preserve Common Properties.
Project purpose is natural resource management through baseline susveys, formation of stakeholder groups and biosamitis, development of nurseries/seed banks and biodiversity education centres.
The project involved local communities in the sustainable use of natural resources by making them stake holders in the process of biodiversity and natural resource conservation. The activite undertaken were Formation of biodiversity samities, training of samiti representatives on natural resources management and biodiversity issues, development of nurseries, seed banks for important species, establishment of biodiversity education centers for the demonstration models of different processes like compost making, hay making, propagation of different plants and preparation of education material.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
- Low cost herbal medicines catering to a wide range of human and animal ailments are now readily available in rural areas whichis a major impact forthe sustainable livelihoos.
-Nurseries reduce the dependence on the environment for these plants.
-The mortality and morbidity of livestock in the regions we has gone down all these changes are the emphasis of the sustainable livelihoods.
Capacity - Building Component
- NRM Samitis have been formed only in 2 villages, different activities and programmes were taken to adjoining villages and have thus reached out to 11 villages.
- Medicine kits for both humans and livestock have been made.
- Farmers have begun to see the usefulness of this project and there are requests for further training
