Demonstration of solar energy use alternatives for water and premises heating purposes in Kyzylorda children's home
The Aral Sea is the region of ecological catastrophe caused by humans? thoughtless plans and actions. Kyzylorda city is situated close to the epicenter of the ecological catastrophe. Local population morbidity (lungs, intestinal and infectious diseases) is critical. Infantile mortality rates are very high. The current state of affairs with provision of Kyzylorda population with hot water is catastrophic. Besides, due to high tariffs on electric energy and relative high cost of coal supplied to the region as stove fuel, local population encounters great problems with boiling water for cooking and with heating it for washing, laundry and bathing. This applies to the children?s home as well. Being a city budget organization it is not able to ensure provision of necessary funds from the city budget due to the large deficit of city and oblast budgets.
Within the project frameworks the children's home will be equipped with solar water heaters for further use of the hot water for bathing of the children; washing of utensils; washing of linen in the laundry; heating of ferroconcrete floors in the building during winter season by arrangement of the warm floors warmed by hot water from solar collectors; demonstration of the solar energy use opportunities for water heating purposes and replacement of organic fuel. The project will be implemented by local NGO with active participation of community and technical support of a private company. The private company will give the right to use the patents for three inventions on solar collectors and engineering specifications and technical documentation for their manufacturing in Kyzylorda. The project will allow the children's home to partially decrease charges for fuel, to reduce the manual work of the stokers, to decrease the emissions of carbonic gas, soot and other polluting substances in atmosphere.
