Conservation of biodiversity through the conservtion of Kithul plants by Haritha Mithuro Pradeshiya Balamandalaya
Objectives
Protect Giliemale tropical rain forest and its bio diversity.
Promote awareness among school children, seasonal visitors on pilgrimage to Adam's peak on importance of bio diversity conservation.
Provide alternative areas for minor forest produce.( rattan and Kitul)
Activities:
Establishing awareness programs and preparing projects on Kithul Plant
Nurseries and also the ground preparation of a Field Education Centre
Reforestation on the boundary of the forest reserve with Kitul and facilitate people to generate income with products of Kitul.
Educational programme for school children on forest eco system and its importance, to promote conservation through children's participation.
Plant rattan on border and inside the forest
