Project intended to build confidence in local people about the effective traditional health care practices and importance of local germplasm, identification and multiplication of locally available herbs of medicinal value, to create village level germplasm banks where seeds of different varieties available in the region would be maintained and to identify and fine-tune the package of practices for sustainable natural resource management.

It proposed the identification and multiplication of medicinal value plant species and seed varieties that are useful for specific microenvironments and create village level gene banks, where seeds of different varieties available in the region would be maintained for research and multiplication.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Purpose of the project was to conserve the locally available germplasm through people?s participation. The project was framed to generate faith and confidence in local population about the effectiveness of traditional healthcare practices and the importance of local germplasm.
