The project changed the outlook of Red Bank Village. Starting as an isolated community with an economy based on subsistence, the community is now evolving into a more culturally and economically diverse one. No doubt, individual community members are benefiting financially from this change and through them, the whole community benefits. At this stage the benefits are small and time will tell whether benefits will increase.

The most noticeable environmental impact of the project is that the killing of the scarlet macaws has been halted. This is a most important achievement and it is hoped that the project can continue in order to protect these endangered birds.

The project does not seem to have been able to tackle the problem of escaped milpa fires in an effective way. Fire is a major and increasing problem and one that should be addressed with vigor.
