Pilot Project for Monitoring & Rehabilitation of Natural Ecology of Zagros Mountain Through Kinships
Project location:Sepidan, Fars (Lat/Long:30.2625470-51.9873050)
This is a pilot project to extract the best practices for the conservation of the biodiversity of Zagros Mountain ecosystem through the remaining traditional socio-economic structures of kinship settlements and their modern institutions. The activities of the project involve social mobilization, seeking alternative livelihoods to decrease the grazing pressure on rangelands, awareness raising and propagation of the endangered species. At the end of the project a workshop will be held in Tehran, Shiraz and on the project site to share the lessons learned. The experiences will be documented and published as a book in Farsi. In addition, the educational packages will be extracted in Farsi and English. Finally, an edited film on the progress and the best practices will be provided to UNDP-GEF/SGP.
