Promotion of Low Cost Stoves.
Promotion of Low Cost Stoves.
The challenge as seen by Botswana Council of Women is to provide necessary education on the protection of the environment, as there is lack of knowledge on environmental protection issues.

The project seeks to promote the use of a stove that uses sugar cane waste as energy (gel fuel). This stove has low emmissions and is affordable to most households that are presently using kerosene and wood fuel. The gel fuel wont contribute to the 'green house effect' or global warming which many fuels contribute to. The fuel is used in a maintenance free and easy to use cooker.

Eight workshops will be run in Botswana through which education on environment protection will be provided, and the environment friendly cooker will be introduced. Each workshop will have thirty participants, and they will all be expected to desiminate the information to people in their home villages/towns after the workshops. In addition, participants will be encouraged to plant trees.
