Fishing Sustainability Training Project II
The objective of the project is to foster a conservation ethic in the fishing community, in order to sustain economic livelihood and social well-being for future generations. A positive change o f attitude in this regard, would require the strengthening of the institutions generating and disseminating knowledge to the fishing community ? to accomplish the larger goal of conserving the fish stocks themselves, as well as the wider ecosystems which sustain them.
The other major aspect of this project is institutional strengthening as evidenced from the training components. The project also has a conservation of biodiversity focus in relation to the anticipated increase in fish abundance and improvement in the health status of the wider marine environment- accruing from a more environmentally sensitive fishing community.
