Public Awareness to Minimize Solid Waste and Promote Use of Safe Energy Resources
Public Awareness to Minimize Solid Waste and Promote Use of Safe Energy Resources
The project, a landfill rehabilitated by the NGO with support from the GEF/SGP and Greater Amman Municipality, will demonstrate proper SWM combined with solar energy application and water harvesting in an area under pressure caused by various human activities. Awareness activities will target students and the local community in general. In this context, the Society plans to establish a center for SWM and other environmental applications on the site. The center will be equipped with models and displays that will be used in a comprehensive public awareness campaign to promote the use of environment friendly applications. The center will be also used as a community development center that provides training activities for the women of the area on income-generating activities, such as crafts in addition to providing public awareness in health, environmental and social domains. Other NGOs will also be part of the activities conducted by the PWCS.
