Demonstrating a process for the revival of Jaisamand Lake.
The Project intended to address the livelihood needs of the peoplle in the village Semlia through conservation and regeneration of natural resources, to promote diverse cropping patterns, revive the local species of fodder and forest trees and capacity building of NGOs/GOs working in jaisamand catchment area.
The project inclined towards the adoption of Soil & Water Conservation measures viz. gully plugs, continuous contour trenches, and farm bunding in the selected area of Jaisamand Lake. It also involves livestock and agriculture development, improved composting techniques and mixed cropping/inter-cropping practices, formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and training on Natural Resource management (NRM), formation of Participatory village natural resources development & management plan and capacity building of NGOs/GOs to establish suitable techniques of watershed management.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Following were the impacts:
? Conservation and regeneration of natural resources in the catchment area checked large-scale siltation in the lake and helped in its revival
? Enhanced the biodiversity of the Jaisamand Sanctuary
? Brought out a document on different approaches, measures and strategies suitable for ecological restoration
Notable Community Participation
Men and women SHGs were actively involved in Saving/Credit activities and drought prone relief programmes run by the organization. It also proposed to form new groups in other hamlets to ensure men and women participation in village level planning, implementation and monitoring of all the programmes.
