Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
In countries like India a large proportion of population is heavily dependent on forests for land and resources for subsistence. Forests form a source of diverse habitats for a wide variety of flora and fauna and contribute to county?s economic development. Not only this, it offers numerous other benefits in various respects but the impact of human activities on the ecosystem and the effect of altered ecosystem on human beings is yet to be considered.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Indigenous tribal families from the villages in the Raver block of Jalgaon district and Zhimya block of Khargone district in states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh respectively were the target group and beneficiaries.
Building up on the experiences and knowledge of the elders of the village, the programme activities also tried to involve the younger second generation-especially the youth and the school children through the various mass awareness programmes.
