The following activities were undertaken during execution of this project: III Environmental Conference; participation in public hearings; horizontal condominium project monitoring; participation in councils (seven); participation in the development of councils (three); campaign against approval of structural city; civil lawsuits against insertion of inhabited areas within ecological parks; press coverage of environmental crimes; incentives to public associativism in defense of the environment; publication of two issues of the Environmental Forum Newsletter (5,000 copies); publication of flyer promoting environmental organizations (6,000 copies); publication of nine issues of the electronic news bulletin. The Forum was thus able to get a foothold in the environmental area, expanding its activities in the region, strengthening the member organizations, intensifying communication among the environmental organizations, disseminating its activities through different means of communication, and encouraging the formation of new environmental organizations. The results were rather positive, with the sole difficulty identified being the lack of engagement of more expressive shares of the general population in the environmental issues. Continuation of the efforts from this initiative is paramount to overcoming this obstacle and further enhancing the positive results achieved. This project defended the Brasília National Park, the fauna and flora to be affected by the Corumbá dam, and the remaining rural area in the relevant ecological interest area in the JK Park.
