The project was successful in the implementation of the turtle food factory. Two master?s degree students and one doctor?s degree student included the project?s activities in their dissertations. Contacts were made, and the major TV network in the country will run a story on the initiative in one of its highest rating shows. Technical reports were submitted to the authorities, with suggestions for changes in the current legislation about turtle meat commercialization. The municipality of Diorama will have an economic activity developed, since apart from the phytotherapeutic laboratory at AGROTEC, there are no other ventures offering employment locally. Direct environmental gains were not possible with the existing regulations, and thanks to the SGP Brazil support for this project, management of 400 thousand species by the government agencies has been affected. New methodologies are being implemented, based on the report submitted. The project thus went beyond the use of sub-products from sustainable Cerrado management activities, it influenced federal legislation about management of the species.
