Three tanks with surface area of 600 square meters each were implemented during the execution of this project. Several technical problems were faced during this implementation, such as a lack of water to supply the tanks, which was solved by channeling water from a different source, farther from the tanks, raising the construction costs. Three greenhouses were successfully implemented for horticulture. The fish culture and garden product processing unit was designed, with renovations to the house to be used for this purpose, but the actual construction was put on hold due to the lack of funds caused by the acquisition of water from a more distant source than planned. When the fish are mature enough for consumption, APASD will implement a simplified processing unit. The planned training was accomplished, with the exception of the processing part. Fish are being fed with Cerrado grains and fruits, and the experience was disseminated during the Cerrado People?s Meeting. Government support was expected but not realized, which is part of the reason for the shortage of funds faced by APASD. The overall objectives of the project were, however reached, namely the environmental awareness-building in the population, and the alternative sources of income for the families in the agrarian reform settlement. The reforestation of areas for generation of fish food was positive for the environment. The community learned that extractivism is cheap and depends more on strategy than intensive labor and raw materials.
