Conservation of naked osman, endemic fish (Diptychus Dybowskii) of Issykkul Lake by artificial reproduction and information campaign among local population living near to places of osman spawning, fattening and wintering.
The food fish resources of Issykkul Lake considerably undermined because of extraction at spawning time, unlimited catching, the poaching, increased predatory fish pressure (strange trout, pike perch), and stoppage of artificial reproduction. As a result one of the endemic of Issik-Kul Naked osman is critically endangered. According to official returns the cases of Osman catching was not registered since 1985 but from poachers words there are isolated instances of catch.
The main goal of the project is artificial reproduction of osman by reconstruction of existent hatchery, supplying it with special equipment.
During the project realization the follow results are expected to be achieved:
Ecological
? Conservation of genetic resources of Naked osman (endemic fish of Issykkul Lake in Kyrgyzstan)
? rising public awareness on environment problems
Economic
? in future prospect it is possible osman amplification to commercial level
Actions to be undertaken by Public Association ?Edita?:
1. Determination of locations where possibility to catch osman is high. Catch of male-osman is organized
2. Preparation of incubatory premises, purchase of needed equipment, materials, preparation of stimulators
3. Nurture of grubs to tough stage
4. Release of young fish in suitable locations
5. Advocacy of the project aim and goals and necessity of osman reproduction
5 families of Grygorevka village, members of Public Association ?Edita?, employees of fish work will be involved to the project implementation.
The main activities will take place in the outlet of Chonaksuu, Kichiaksuu, Chonkoisuu, Chetkoisuu rivers in the northern coast and Akterek, Uchkainar, Darhan, Barskoon rivers in the southern coast of Issykkul Lake.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The fact that the actions under the project will result not only in occurrence of additional sources of the income of the local population, but also restoration of species included in the Red Book, that will be the direct contribution to conservation of a global biodiversity will be emphasized at seminars and other advocacy actions. Real practice demonstrates that consumption of resources without renewal has no the future.
Capacity - Building Component
The local population gets new skills not only on catching but also reproduction, marketing of tourist services connected to amateur fishing. Local implementing NGO gets experience of realization of the projects in sphere of biovariety and together with the partner of the project owns and maintains the fry reproduction equipment and stocks.
