Construction and Use of Fuel Efficient Woodsaving Stoves
The project was executed in the Adah-Foah/Kese area of the Dangme East District in the Coastal Guinea Savannah zone of Ghana. The area is severely deforested and those communities living along the coast depend mostly on mangrove species for fuelwood. The project was to popularize the use of the Fuel Efficient Woodsaving (FEW) Stoves. A train-the- trainer programme involved 30 women in the area. The adoption rate of the FEW Stoves was exceptionally high with over 90% of households in the training area using the stoves.
