Afforestation, Bushfire Management and Construction of Fuel Efficient Woodstoves
Large areas of the Nanumba District suffer extensive bush burning every year leading to reduced availability of fuelwood, poles and forest products including medicinal plants and wildlife. The project was to train 5 communities in environmental education, bushfire prevention and control, tree nursery development/management, afforestation and agroforestry. Women were also trained in the construction, use and maintenance of fuel-efficient woodstoves made of clay. The project beneficiaries disseminate their acquired techniques to neighbouring communities
