Project Results

- An exhibition by SGP partners on World Environment Day 2002, where awareness was raised on GEF/SGP activities in the country. Sharing of knowledge among SGP partners with the state sector and private sector also taking part.
- awareness of the work of small NGOs outside Colombo and introduced a system of lateral relationships with the SGP partners
- by organizing Regional Workshops lateral relationships among the SGP partners further strengthened, for e.g. at 2 workshops - formed provincial/district networks amongst themselves.
- Site visits undertaken strengthened experience sharing and a sense of togetherness which was highly appreciated by organizations who felt isolated and remote from each other.
- The National Workshop was held to discuss the nature and future of networking. Formulated proposals for SGP projects were discussed. This was specially important as all SGP partners had no clear ide of the GEF themes of biodiversity conservation, land degradation, organic farming and de-forestation, POPs & climate change. The series of lectures which were organized at the Regional workshops were helpful in awareness raising on the above issues.
