Environmental benefit: The project helped the community to replant 1300 olive trees in Bani Suhaila village and restored the most native specie of the Mediterranean region, thus contributed to sustainable land management. The project has successfully helped to establish a ?Friends of Environment? youth committee to sustain the project?s activities.
Awareness/ information: The project improved understanding of 40 leading youth (boys/ girls) on environmental problems such as land degradation, solid waste management, energy efficiency ?.etc. This group has reached a larger number of school students and distributed 3000 posters and brochures. They also launched environmental drawings competition and exhibition to reinforce positive behavior change among youth. The youth developed the value of ?voluntarism? in environment outreach activities.
Partnership: The grantee has gone through close partnership with the Government and UNRWA schools in order to reach broader children community through performing 8 theater plays.
Income generation: By distributing the olive trees to farmers, the project has built up the potential for farmers income increase after three to four seasons when the trees become productive.
