Reduction of desertification rate by rehabilitation and protection of forest and steppe vegetation, containing species included into Red Book of Kyrgyzstan through planting walnut and almond trees nearby Akman village, located in the steppe belt of South Western slope of Fergana Range.
The previous brush-wood vegetations were destroyed under the influence of uncontrolled grazing and firewood provision. Species composition of herbaceous vegetation considerably becomes poor because of grazing, mowing, tillage expansion all-the-year-round. Inhabitants of Akman village wittingly cause fire for soil fertility increasing. Such actions allow further destruction of landscape and habitats of plants and animals included into the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan (steppe tortoise (Agrionemys horsfieldi), wood snake (Coluber), several species of almond).
During the project realization the follow results are expected to be achieved:
Ecological
-conservation and widening of habitat of species of wood and grass vegetation included into Red Book of Kyrgyzstan
-rehabilitation of wood and bush vegetation plot as a component of former steppe landscape;
-reproduction of other species of wood vegetation by creating nursery (Korjinskiy pear, Nedzvetskiy apple-tree, Knorring hawthorn, walnut)

Economic
-collection and processing of fruits, sale of saplings as supplement to traditional cattle-breeding, plant-growing
-use of wood not only for heating but for making souvenirs and national music instruments
