Local Community Participation in Agro -biodiversity Protection on Kurpie Plain
Classical agro-biodiversity project with wide campaign promoting traditional native varieties of cereals, vegetables, native breed of animals (Polish red cow, spotted pig, poultry icluding green legged partridge, small wild horse, sheep (olkuska breed).
Pilot plots with primitive variety of wheat (orkisz), and wyszoborski potato were prepared.
Small gardens and orchads were renovated (vegetables, old variety of fruit tree).
These activities gave the initial ground for development of local products based on old varieties and breeds;
selected and committed farms became of a good base for extensive workshops, trainings about ecological agriculture for local farmers.

Notable Community Participation
At this stage of long-term project 10 farmers were very active and cimmitted, involved in practical activities. Other were observing, participing in trainings, but waiting for results, not willing to risk (in their opinion).
Project is proving that any changes in rural , conservative area, need time and is a slow process.
