Reproduction of species included into Red Book of Kyrgyzstan (Crataegus knorringiana Pojark and Ribes janczewskii A.Pojark) by creation of nursery forest in the buffer zone of Karakol National Park, located in coniferous forest belt of northern slope of Teskey Alatoo Range.
Kinds of fruit-trees and bushes (Crataegus knorringiana Pojark and Ribes janczewskii A.Pojark) included into Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan like rare and endemic species of Tien Shan and Pamiro-Alay are destroyed because of overgrazing and cutting for firewood and harvesting by the local population. Cuttings provision of wild currant for stocking to cultural varieties is the additional reason of Ribes janczewskii A.Pojark disappearance in the natural habitat.
The main purpose of the project is reduction of endemic species disappearance through reproduction of them in the nursery, selling of grown cuttings and their further planting in the buffer zone of National Nature Park.
In the course of project implementation it is intended obtaining of the following results:
Ecological
Reduction of disappearance rate and reproduction of endemic Crataegus knorringiana Pojark and Ribes janczewskii A.Pojark
Economic
Selling of currant cuttings and organized gathering of berries on the currant and hawthorn plantings diversify potential incomes sources of the local people which are engaged in cattle-breeding and potatoes cultivation.
Actions to be undertaken by Public Ecological Association of Issyk-Kul women
1. Selection of the plots for cultivation of Crataegus knorringiana Pojark and Ribes janczewskii A.Pojark
2. preparing plots for nursery (0.3hectares)
3. planting and taking care for saplings
4. current and hawthorn plantings on the chosen plots (20hectares)
5. trainings and seminars conducting on taking care for saplings
5 families of Burmasuu village, members of the Public Association of Issyk-Kul women, lecturers of Issykkul State University, officers of Karakol National Natural Park will be involved in the project implementation.
