6000 people live in the Kojoyar and Semenovka villages of Semenov Ayil Okmotu. The main solid fuels for heating and cooking are firewood, dried manure and coal because of gas absence and often missing in electrical energy providing. Each family uses in average 3m3 of firewood at the cost of 40$. But because of high price on the coal not many families can buy it as a result share of firewood in the fuel balance sharply rise. In the most cases families take authorization on 3m3 of firewood provision but in fact they cut down in 5-10 times more woods.
This process difficult to monitor Local Forestry can?t control all forest territory because of insufficient financing. Additional deteriorative factors are corruption and nepotism among forestry employees.
The main purpose of the project is stoppage of deforestation rate through creation of fast growing trees plantations which will use by population as firewood and timber without elimination from natural habitats and at the same time endemic and included into Red Book species will preserve.
In the course of project implementation it is intended obtaining of following results:
Ecological
- protection of species of plants habitats included into Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan, part of them is endemics;
Economic
- provide people by firewood and timber
- Using of flood-plain brush-wood vegetations for current gathering instead of cutting down of these plants
Actions to be undertaken by Public Association « POPULYUS »
1. Conducting seminar and trainings for the local population who will take care for saplings
2. Fencing and creation of irrigation network
3. Purchase and planting saplings of nîdîëü, â?ç, câr in 15 hectares
4. Information campaign
8 families of the villages Semenovka and Kodjojar, members of the public association ?Public Association «POPULYUS», foresters from Ananyevo Forest Range will be involved in the project.
Main activity of the project will take place in river plane of Kichaksuu river between Kodjojar and Semenovka villages located in 8 km to Noth from the borders of Issykkul State Reserve.
The main expected ecological and economical benefits of the project are:
? Reduction of destroying rate of coniferous and riverplane vegetation containing endemic and endangered species included into the Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan;
? Appearance of new materials for cooking, heating and construction
