Assessment of Commercially Important Species in Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve Utilizing Traditional Commercial Fishermen
Assessment of Commercially Important Species in Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve Utilizing Traditional Commercial Fishermen
The goal of this project is to provide economic benefits to fishermen while supporting conservation efforts in the area. By providing an alternative to current unsustainable fishing practices, this project will involve members of the fishing communities devastated by the collapse of near shore fisheries and, at the same time, promote the health of coral reef ecosystems. This process will also stimulate local, grassroots participation in ongoing coral reef conservation efforts
