Promotion of Joint Forest Management approach for selected villages adjacent to Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve in Hai District
This project is implemented by South Kilimanjaro Catchment Forestry Project. This project will attempt to fill in the existing gap in joint forest management. The project aims at collaborating with the local communities in selected villages in Hai district which is adjacent to Mt. Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve in the management of this forest. Joint forest management is expected to improve and guarantee sustainable management through reduction of forest management costs and sharing of benefits with the local communities. This project will also encourage establishment of community small scale environmental friendly income generating activities to reduce dependence on the forest.
