Training for the development of ecologically sound agriculture with the implementation and diversification of horticulture, using native species at 8 communities of the municipality of Cantel, Quetzaltenango.
The project will work with 8 natives vegetable species, from which 3 are endangered, cultivating all of them under organic methods and techniques. Special interest is put on training of trainers to disseminate these methods and experiences on 8 communities, enhancing new commercialization and in-situ species conservation methods for local vegetable landraces on peasant plots. Training in communal organization, management and fair trade, project monitoring and evaluation, are the main components of the project. One year duration.
