Protection and rehabilitation of relic nut forest nearby Tegene village located in the south-west slope of Fergana range through creation nursery and planting saplings of walnuts, almonds, hawthorns in their previous habitat for preservation ecosystem with large quantity of endemic and included into Red Book species.
The plot ?Jon? has appeared recently from people moved to this place because of landslide danger in the former habitats and located in the belt of former walnut forests. As a result of economic activity this plot in the present time looks as forest-steppe. Population of Tegene village is 1200 people. There is no water pipe in the village; frequent missing of electricity takes place in the winter time; inhabitants heat houses by coal which extracts in the nearest coal mine. The main sources of income are cattle-breeding and plant cultivation it allows expansion of tillage, pastures and reduction of forest vegetations.
The main idea of the project is to change people?s attitude to forest through involving them in fruit saplings planting which are generating species of natural walnut forests ecosystem and explain their rights and procuracies concerned with rent and property of forest plots.
In the course of project implementation it is intended obtaining of the following results:
Ecological
-conservation of habitat of species included into Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan
-rehabilitation of wood and bush vegetation plot as a component of former walnut landscape;
-reproduction of other species of wood vegetation by creation nursery forest (walnut, almond, hawthorn,)
Economic
It is possible under project effect people will diversify resources of income due to saplings, mushrooms, berries and nuts selling.
Social and cultural
Till recently people have not had opportunity to gather nuts and other forest products for their own because forests were State property and gathered harvest must be delivered to State for nominal price.
Population informed weak about changes in the legislation and do not believe that forest can be in community property. Because of unbelief and weaken control of Forestry the forest destruction scale sharply increased.
