Community participation in mangorve rehabilitation and conservation in Rawa Aopa National Park, South East Sulawesi
Project development Goal :
To conserve Rawa Aopa conservation area through community based sustainable nature resource management
Project Objectives :
1. To restore degraded mangrove forest
2. To increase community welfare through creation of alternative environmentally friendly economic activities
3. To promote and disseminate information on best and sustainable practice on mangrove management
4. To increase community awareness and understanding on the importance of mangrove conservation
Expected output :
a. Reduced degraded mangrove area by 35% and restored mangrove forest condition
b. Production of manual / guidelines on conservation value on community based mangrove rehabilitation
c. Emergence of community groups caring for mangrove conservation equipped with it?s well planned mechanism
d. Emergence of environmentally economic activities supported by revolving fund mechanism
e. Production of supporting material for increasing public awareness
f. Production of lessons learned and best practice document to be used for raising awareness and advocacy
g. Emergence of conducive and supportive policy from local government on community based nature resource management

2. Alternative environmentally friendly economic development :
a. crab culture : pond construction, seeds provision, rearing, growing, marketing
b. technical training and cross visit

e. increasing public awareness
3. Development of information and documentation
a. Development of communication strategy
b. Material compilation
c. Development of information and communication tool : talk show, poster, banner etc
d. Dissemination and sharing information : local workshop, public hearing
