Community based local durian Conservation Effort
Project development Goal :
Sustainability of community-based forest management with integrating aspects of economy, ecology and social
Project Objectives :
1. To increase population of a super local cultivar of durian in the community forest area
2. To increase skill and capability in order to recognise and utilise medical plant spesies and cow husbandry management as well
3. Raising awareness and developing skill on conservation effort of super local cultivar of durian
4. Increasing income through cow husbandry and cultivating of local cultivar of durian.
Expected output :
1. Population of super local cultivar of durian exsisted in the community forest area, as demonstration plot and part of learning process.
2. Capability of community was increased in recognising and utilising of medical plant
3. People became more aware in conserving super local cultivar of durian and land, as well
4. Existing income activity to increase thier welfare, and all at once conserving forest as water catchment
5. In the long term, level of economy income will be increased with cow husbandry.
Activities to be conducted :
1. Social preparation: Coordination and consultation
2. Training:
a. Community Organizing
b. Handling seed technique of durian and quarantine
c. Cultivation and nursery
d. Post harvest technique
e. Cultivation and post harvest technique of medical plant
f. Composting technique
3. Provision and cow husbandry
4. Field activities:
a. Provision old seed
b. Build quarantine (green house) for seedling
c. Create demonstration plot for composting and slurry
5. Land preparation (housing)
6. Planting:
a. Durian
b. Medical plant
7. Nursing:
a. Fertilizing
b. Weed cleaning
8. Plant inspecting
9. Media Outreach
10. Monitoring & Evaluation Program
11. Reportage
