Alternative range and pasture management methods for the protection of wild (endemic) plant species in Agro-pastoral societies of North West Zagros Mountains (Bozghoush)
Project location:Bozghoush , West Aarbaijan (Lat/Long:37.420054-47.709503)
The overall goal of the project is the protection of four endangered plant species through local community (local herders and ?Yourds?) participation and improvement of soil fertility.
To this end, the project will map the natural habitats.
The community will be involved in a collaborative rangeland management to increase the vegetation in the 3-4 selected sites by diffusion of seeds and plantation, protection of rangeland by placing physical barriers and using farmlands instead of pasture grazing.
The community will also be trained in soil husbandry techniques and alternative energy sources to substitute the usage of scrubs and animal manure as fuel.
To share the lessons learned two workshops will be held in Tehran and on project site.
