Calowanie Moor Protection
, The main objective of this project is to create the most optimal conditions enabling maintenance of the most valuable habitats and plant communities peatbog (moor) "Calowanie" with necessary active and supportive participation of local people and Mazowiecki Landscape Park.
Antropopression is the main thread - pressure on land for recreaction plots, not controlled exploatation of peat, establishements of fish ponds agreed with any agricultural or water authority causing decrease of ground water level.
Value of "Calowanie" Moor (1200 ha) lies in high differentiation of plant communities known from EU Habitat Directive - wet Molinion meadows and others; 700 vescular plants with 33 legally protected are recorded, including endangered in this place shrubby birch (Betula humilis) from the RED POLISH LIST of endangered species.
It is habitat for 145 species of birds, including beside others, corn crake (crex crex), hen harier (Cirus cyaneus),Montagnu's harier (Circus pygargus), black- tailed godwit (Limosa limosa),lesser spotted eagle ( Aquillapomarina), common snipe (Gallingao gallingao) ,little bittem (Ixobrychus minutus).
