Improved Livelihoods and Land Degradation Control in Deir Yousef
The Rural Women Development Society has been implementing a project in Deir Yousef/ Irbid governorate involving women in natural resource management through supporting income-generating activities that improve local community livelihood including promotion of traditional home gardens and domestic water harvesting techniques. The ?Improved Livelihoods and Land Degradation Control in Deir Yousef? project will build on the efforts made so far by the community and increase the beneficiary base to include more community members specially women. The project will also conduct public awareness activities that strengthens the community?s appreciation of the importance of conserving natural resources for sustaining community development.

Gender Focus
Direct beneficiaries are women of the community, specially poor women and those who support their families, but most of the activities will benefit the community as a whole.
Notable Community Participation
Local community members, mainly women, are the direct beneficiaries of this project. The NGO runs a revolving fund that is used to support individual activities at the house or farm level that benefit the community and preserve the natural resources.
