Over the past two years, the National Energy Research Center has been implementing a project to train energy efficiency engineers whose role is to reduce energy consumption, thereby energy bill, within small and medium size industries. The Center and other partners in the project believe that there is a need to train another group of energy efficiency engineers in order to enhance the results achieved by the first project. The ?Energy Efficiency Outreach Program? will also work with decision-makers to encourage the adoption of an energy conservation law under consideration by the government. One of the articles of this law would be to make it mandatory to appoint an energy engineer in any establishment with an annual energy budget exceeding a certain limit to be defined by a panel of experts. It is hoped that this project will not only help the industries reduce their energy bill, but it will also guarantee a more competitive industry and a cleaner environment.
